Appointment Preparations

We're Here to Help You Prepare for Your Appointment

Our Main Recommendations

Here at The Curl Sanctuary, our mission is to give every one of our clients their best hair day and an amazing experience at our salon. Believe it or not, a client’s experience starts before they even get into the chair. Based on their current state of hair, we recommend our clients follow a few steps before their appointments.

  1. All of our services require that the client’s hair is 100% detangled. We recommend doing this in the shower using a conditioner after shampooing. If needed, clients can leave a little conditioner in their hair. *However, please do not brush the hair after!*
  2. When you come in for your custom curly haircut, you must wear your hair 100% dry, in its natural texture so that our team of stylists can properly see its curl pattern. This practice will best allow our stylists to achieve the desired cut and look that the client aims to achieve.
  3. We ask that all clients come in with their hair down and air-dried completely. To clarify, this means no ponytails, messy buns, or hair pulled back with clips. *Please do not brush or finger comb the hair once dry"

Other Preparation Recommendations

  1. As an existing client, hair can be day one or two hair from its last wash. We want to see what clients’ natural hair is like when they let it air dry. For return clients who always wear their hair a certain way, they should come in with it styled in the way that they feel most comfortable.
  2. Our team requests that new clients use only a minimum amount of product in their hair to their appointment. For example, using an excess of gels, texturizing sprays, and dry shampoo can make the hair stiff and difficult for the stylist to work with. For repeat clients, we ask that hair be styled as they were previously taught so that the stylist is able to see the progress of their curls.
  3. Supplying our team with reference photos is a great way to prepare for an appointment. Using these photos, our team can get a greater visual understanding of the hair goals the client is going for specifically. For clients who aren’t exactly sure how they want their hair, bringing photos of what is not wanted is a great help to the stylist during the consultation.
  4. *Please note that if the hair isn’t detangled properly and air-dried, the stylist will charge for the time it takes to dry and prep the hair properly.*
